We're coming home...

The Dodos are a grower. Visiter was on my casual playlist for a good few months before I realised that they were probably one of my most listened to artists. I caught them at the beginning of the year supporting Fleet Foxes and they had such a youthful energy to their performance that was hard not to appreciate. Once again they have flown under my radar and have announced their follow-up album Time To Die for release this week via digital download (you can purchase a physical copy in late August). Follow the link at the bottom of this post to stream the whole album.
Fables is the first release from the album and damn is it solid! This is a track where just about every element works, neither one out-doing the other. They've settled on a slower, more restrained approach to some of their previous efforts but it hits every mark.
Definitely give Time To Die a go. I don't think it will have quite the same impact as Visiter did last year but it may well be up there amongst the sleeper hits of 2009. They won't be your new favourite band or the band whose new track you just have to play your friends, but the kind you'll see creeping their way into a bunch of peoples top 10 lists come December.

you did a great job of describing the Dodos. Fables is one of my favourite songs of the moment.
