One Life Stand / Cruel Intentions

Today I wanted to share a collection of different tracks that have been sent to me, and until just recently, have been sitting in my iTunes library collecting dust and now that I have a forum in which to share them, i am pretty excited, because some of which have been hard to find and need some well deserved plays.

Hot Chip can be very hit or miss, and their new single One Life Stand is no exception. Although I’m not a huge fan of the original, there is a remix i found by Joris Voorn that i loved, that has a very minimalist approach to the original. It feels well weighted throughout the whole track and the subtlety of the verse synth sits well in between the vocoder vocals.

Simian Mobile Disco have recently released their second single from the album Temporary Pleasure, titled Cruel Intentions. The original itself is outstanding (as almost everything is that comes from SMD) not to mention they have been able to get Beth Ditto (of Gossip fame) as guest vocalist, but I have found a remix by DJ Pierre that has stood up to the original in its own right.

Dim Mak Records do not need any introduction, but they did sign a band by the name of All Leather, fronted by punk legend Justin Pearson (The Locust, Holy Molar, Some Girls, Swing Kids, Three One G Records). All Leather are very much a dance punk band, and the remix i have included remind me of bands like The Chinese Stars or even the early demos of My Disco if The Bloody Beetroots had produced them.
